Let's Talk Toys is a great supplement to the Let’s Talk card game for those children who need a little extra support. To use Let’s Talk Toys, players follow all of the Let’s Talk card game directions but replace the Subject cards with Let’s Talk Toys. For some children, actually holding an object, helps them to focus and stay on topic. Once children become skilled at carrying on conversations while holding the toys, move on to using the original Let’s Talk Subject cards. You will be surprised how quickly children learn to follow the give and take of conversation and how quickly they show a willingness to talk about new topics!

Materials:

Let’s Talk Toys includes a variety of animals, vehicles, books, balls, etc. The toys are meant to represent both the actual toy and a broader category of toy. For example, the car can represent all cars as well as the child's experiences with cars, how cars are made, how cars have changed over time, etc. This allows for many different conversations about a single toy. Children will never run out of things to talk about!
